MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE will be aired live online  for 20 bucks in September 25th , usually 36 CINEMA releases are restored in HD (i missed SHAOLIN VS LAMA ) , no technical details available at this point, let's hope this classic will have the same treatment !

In my opinion, the DVD print was far better.  The deluxe edition DVD is slightly cropped, but it's uncut and has much better picture quality. But it was still fun to watch. I enjoyed the commentary and insight.  I left a screencap in another thread, if you can find it.

So, finally 36 cinema streamed MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE and do not expect a clean print like THE MYSTERY OF CHESS BOXING. The overall quality is so so, colors & resolution are weak,picture is a bit too dark but i have to admit it's (in my opinion) a better copy than the DVD version  ( i have all of them). There is no colors/light  random change like in the DE LUXE dvd, no shadow effect. Some parts have scratches & dusts  but nothing  too bad. According to Dan Halsted (36 cinema's film archivist) it's a 35mm print from his private collection , it's clearly not restored but still it's a fair widescreen transfer and it's in 1080p HD. Was it worth it ? I would say yes because i think i can do some work on it : color correction, increase the sharpness etc....

About the audio, let's say i can replace it with the MANDARIN & ENGLISH tracks from the dvd's, a French dubbing from my old VHS and add an extra audio track with the RZA commentary  !

I have no doubts, THE KUNGFUROBBER will do some magic touch with this print and i can't wait for it. Until then i'll do my little restoration job. You can check some screenshots i've made from my recording.

I've got to say I'm not all too thrilled with the black levels on this one... I think I'll be keeping a hold of my DVDs for now but I'll wait and see what project lengkee has in store cos I'm curious. I'm sure he'll do a grand wee job

Honestly I'm thinking about keeping my customs on a lower profile and just amongst yous fans because I've got a bunch of fucking irritating and arrogant arseholes reuploading clips of my work and claiming they have been restoring them THEMSELVES, then having the gumption of asking me how to do stuff in DMs then going to restore films without even knowing what interlacing is, what the framerate of film is and then calling themselves restorationists.... almost like they don't give a fuck about the films but more about wanting to feel like they are a part of the film and thinking it can be picked up overnight.... It makes me a bit cranky sometimes... I'm not even a restorationist, I'm just a hobbyist who likes these films and if I can do stuff like add better audio to foreign tapes and make the picture look a bit better I will but none of my projects are perfect, whatever I've done anyone here could probably do... and it's not for some kind of bloody glory it's because I like the films and the projects haven't been done... Ugh.... Really fucking annoying. I had to explain that a youtube upload of a DVD blown up to 1080p and then redownloaded isn't going to be better than the DVD, and the DVD in question already has both the English dub and the Chinese dub on it and looks fine. Then it came to me getting asked by people where to find unremastered films, not for any good reason, but because they are unremastered and they want something else to up their fuckin ego.... Why? And then I had to go on to explain that the reason companies put out films unremastered isn't becuase the companies are "shit", it's because it's fucking expensive to restore the films... And nobody is complaining, we're grateful folks around here. I'm not going to disparage watching My Life is on the Line or Born Invincible because the "graphics" are bad. I don't even spend enough time watching movies at this point, I just barely feel like it at the moment, I've been dealing with depression for a long time which isn't nice and I would rather distract my mind doing something constructive at those times than watch a film when I won't enjoy it.

I remember Kevinz fell out with us earlier about me projects cos he got the wrong idea of what was going on, and the thing is even though he was mistaken I bloody well know where he's coming from.

I don't even frankly know why I am wasting hours and hours doing Snake in the Monkey's Shadow, there's nothing really too far wrong with the scan of the cinema print on the German disk apart from everything you would expect. About 60 seconds all in all are missing from the second and third reels and that's in total, there's a bit of harsh graininess and magenta fade but nothing horrible, very few instances of print damage. It's not like I'm not going to watch it because it's a bit faded or doesn't have the Chinese dub on it which was LITERALLY lost until the Houndslowteam found it, but I do remember that you all show appreciation for the shit that I do and it's MUCH appreciated more than I could explain here.... I just don't want to feel like I'm doing a whole load of shit for some kind of narcissism like that. I would strongly encourage everyone to get the German disc, Asia Line are just a wee company but did a fucking great one on this one big up them for putting this out.  Anyway I'm gonna duck out for a bit because I'm losing the will to go on at this rate. But what's done is done and what I start I have to finish.

Sorry for the rant guys, you're all my comrades and fellow followers of the arts that are martial and the acrobatics of death and I wish you all well but I'm going to be laying low for the time being...

I fell sorry for you and i know what are you talking about. Years ago when i made customs over at ADC i lost my will to do customs because every time i made one there was somebody who criticize my work. At this time i was far beyond of what are you doing today. And i know it cost time to learn how all the tools like avisynth and others work. It is a shame that people who not even know how to deinterlace or upscale video criticize the work of movie enthusiasts. Writing subtitels - timeing them, dubbing video can take hours of work. This is not done with a one click tool. It is not about getting kudos. It is about to share what is our hobby and passion. To get the best version of a movie we love.

Please don't be so frustrated. Here are fans of your work and people who know what you are doing and what time and money it cost to do this !!!

I don't get it really. Is it cos I'm a girl and they need to be ahead of me in their wee head to feel normal? Is it the age old moral of give an inch and they take a mile? I hate to think it's the latter because you all in here have been really supportive in reality which would contradict that notion. And well I mean, I felt petty in complaining about it to be honest and wonder if it's me who is just downright impatient... Perhaps it's both. But I appreciate what you're saying, at least I don't feel totally insane looking at it now.

Not petty at all...especially those trying to claim your work as their own.  FUCK THE HATERS!!  lol.  I greatly appreciate  all the hard work for everyone that puts their blood sweat and tears into stuff like this.

I usually do the mr miyagi number one rule and "Dont get involved" but it seems to me that your in a bit of a struggle the now and u need a sounding board and what better place than here where we all have the same interests.

There are a small minority of people who just prey on peoples kindness and i daresay if the people asking for help were being respectful and being geniune u would have no problems helping. But there are a small percentage of people who, as you say seem to want to get themselves involved in something just for the sake of it or they dont come across as genuine. Those people can get to and u need to know when to cut people off and not help. 

It seems like this genre we all love has been steeped in bootlegging from the beginning, from the use of copyrighted music, all the way through to people like George Tan who put this genre back with endless releases of inferior quality rather than trying to better thier business amd the genre as a whole so i dont think its anything to be with being a girl. To be fair I dont think a majority of people even realises the robber is a girl but if that is the case then fuck 'em. Just know that there might be a vocal minority of people who are doing ur nut in but there are lots of silent observers on this board who do notice the spectacular work you have done (without being paid for with the exception of ur website) and im sure many will agree on this board that itbis very much appreciated.

Back on topic of Master of the flying Guillotine. I daresay the work @lengkeeis doing will look better than when it was originally released. Lol. Cant wait to see the end result.

Can you all imagine how fuckin unstoppable a label would be backed by this site and using the talents of many members in this forum? Lets say for instance release number one was a blu ray release of master of the flying guillotine, what would be the legalities surrounding a lot of these indies. Do Asia line for instance get licenses from the rights holders on a lot of thier releases or do u just need the permission from the person who supplied the print when the film seems to be in the public domain?

Can you imagine KFF choosing what they can get the rights to/print permissions for a dvd/blu ray label. Restoration works done by many members on this forum. Artwork done by kung fu bob and other talented artists on this forum. Man if i won the lottery i now know what I would be pumping my money into. Lol.
