Good thing I picked up Arrow's Sailor Suit and Machine Gun! I got it for 9£ + shipping £4 which is the equivalent of 2200 yen. Then I sold my Japanese BD and got 2600 yen for it! The Arrow has everything the JP BD has (*) + exclusive 50 min interview featurette and booklet. Actually the booklet was worth the price alone for the Hiroko Yakushimaru and Kiyoshi Kurosawa discussion. You rarely see such frank talk and criticism about about a director who is pretty much considered 2nd to God.

* Arrow does omit the scaled down replica of the theatrical pamphlet, but that's ok since I own the original full size pamphlet anyway

Buys new for 2200, sells old for 2600. Based Takuma. Meanwhile me: zero sales made and no idea what anything is worth :D .

Of course, I paid nearly 4000 yen for the Japanese BD back in 2014 when I bought it. But that's irrelevant :laugh

Thought about buying the complete blu set of the Mr Vampire series and by the time I got to the payment section and saw the full price with tax and shipping, it was nearly £230!!

Bugger that!

Seeing as I already have Mr Vampire on Eureka, I just deleted my basket and set about buying them individually.

How are those Pearl/X movies? Heard mixed things but I like a good horror film.

I really enjoyed X. It’s an interesting take on the slasher sub genre. I haven’t seen Pearl yet though. I’m probably watch it this weekend.

Arrived from America because I heard the UK version would be cut. Never seen the film before.

You're in for a gruesome treat. You are aware this one's heavy on animal cruelty?

Yes. But I'm sure our ancestors 200 years ago would slaughter an animal for food so I don't really feel bad about it.

On my trips in Asia I've eaten snake heart cut out of the animal in front of me and eaten dog meat in Cambodia & Philippines. So although I like animals, I'm also not bothered about a bit of gore. I'm sure the turtle was cooked later off camera. I know I would eat it, no problems.

I'll let you know how I feel when I get round to watching it.

I just read about it on the Twitter feed, something about a turtle and one comment mentioned something about Grindhouse 4k uncut. I haven't a clue what that is.

The infamous Turtle scene.

I'm loading it now. I just looked at the rear cover and it's multi region. ABC. It's also "Grindhouse releasing" so I presume they will have a 4k of it like the twitter comments said, but I do not know of this release date. Ordering this film directly from Grindhouse website is strictly for USA & Canada only, even though it's multi region. So ordered it from USA Amazon.

I forgot to mention that while in Kalinga province in Northern Luzon Philippines, which I might add used to be headhunter country up until the 90's, I witnessed and recorded (from a tourist point of view) of a cow being slaughtered with a blunt machete while the animal was tied to a tree. Gruesome stuff and all for a funeral meal.

Not my country to barge in and say it's wrong. Same goes for their sport of cock fighting with the cocks having razor sharp talons tied to the backs of their feet. On the good side, the losing cocks are cooked and eaten.

Sure a cruel sport, but probably Spanish influence.

So I just watched the film. I didn't find the animal slaughter scenes disturbing.  I was more disturbed by the American wankers trying to burn the villagers alive in their homes.

Now listening to the commentary.
