Member The Silver Fox Posted November 23, 2009 Member Share Posted November 23, 2009 I have a vague recollection of seeing this on TV many years ago. I want to track down a decent DVD version- there is one on ebay and FarEastFlicks has it, as well as online stores that specilaize in 3D movies. I don't care too much about the 3D aspect of the movie, all I want is a decent print that is watchable. Does anybody have any info on what is the best DVD version of this film to get and if the film itself is actually any good? I don't remember it that well, other than some cool weapons. Thanks in advance.

Member Morgoth Bauglir Posted November 24, 2009 Member Share Posted November 24, 2009 I saw a trailer for this on some Panmedian DVD. It looks really cool. I heard it's a super rare movie, so if there's a DVD I would go for it. It would be nice to hear something about the movie though wouldn't it:tongue:
Member The Silver Fox Posted November 24, 2009 Author Member Share Posted November 24, 2009 I ended up ordering it from a online store that specializes in 3D DVDs. They are custom DVD's with original art etc. I checked everywhere and there doesn't seem to be an official DVD release of the film at this time. They also have 'Treasure of the Four Crowns' which is a super cheesy action movie that I've been trying to track down.I saw it at the theatre during it's theatrical run. If my Dynasty DVD is good I'm gonna pick this one up too.

I'm certain that you did see it on T.V. many years ago, just as I did. However, I did not know the Tan Tao Liang was the lead character. At that time, I didn't know who Tan was. Great movie then & now. One of my favorites. If you're looking for decent quality, the FEF print is good. I have had a poor to fair ptint. This one is good. I like this flick. The kung fu is certainly NOT Venoms or Seven Little Fortune mayhem. Kind of slow, actually. Can a kung fu flick be in 3D & not be a bit cheesy? However, as stated above, this is one of my favorites. I like the plot, the action, & the cheesy effects. The giant throwing star is just delightful, IMO. My bet is that you will enjoy it. Please do let me know about the quality of the DVD the you purschased.
Member The Silver Fox Posted November 25, 2009 Author Member Share Posted November 25, 2009 Yeah, I'll be sure to give an update once I receive the DVD, it shipped out today so hopefully it'll be here soon. Yeah, I didn't realize Tan 'Flashlegs' was the lead either, but that is really cool 'cause I like his style alot. The huge throwing stars are certainly the part that I rememeber too, I can't wait to watch it.
Member The Silver Fox Posted December 11, 2009 Author Member Share Posted December 11, 2009 Well, I got my copy of Dynasty(aka Warlord) about a week ago and finally watched it yesterday. The DVD has two viewing options for whatever type of 3D glasses you have. Overall, I enjoyed the movie and it brought back alot of memories of Saturday afternoons watching Kung Fu Theatre so it was well worth it. The print is full screen and pretty washed out but watchable.( It's not really viewable without the glasses). The fights, especially in the last 30 minutes look really cool in 3D and Tan does some nice stuff. The ending takes the cake as the villain takes off his chain-mail overcoat and forms a giant cross out of it and starts throwing it around.Lots of beheadings and neat weapons throughout the flick too. Anyway, for the curious I bought it here: WWW.UNDERGROUND3DMOVIES.COM

Member gskmeva Posted July 2, 2020 Member Share Posted July 2, 2020 I'm sure some have already seen the news online but the awesome people at the 3-D Film Archive just started a kickstarter project to remaster and restore one of the very few kungfu films to be shot in true native 3D format and to release on 3D Bluray within the year. Details in the following link. http://kck.st/2BQTW9H Meng

Member morpheus Posted December 13, 2021 Member Share Posted December 13, 2021 I was so looking forward to this release. The audio track is English and not in the original language.

The original soundtrack apparently doesn’t survive, but small price to pay for having a stupendous restored true Blu 3D presentation courtesy of the angels over at the 3D Film Archive. Nothing remotely to cry over IMO — on the contrary, the fact that we can now own this film in any sort of watchable 3D version at all is to be celebrated. I never thought I’d be able to own this in scope 3D glory. And there’s a ton of awesome 3D extras too.

I'd prefer subs and the original language, but I'm okay with the English dub in this case.
