Collecting big box and clamshell VHS has always been one of my favorite things to collect (and I collect a lot of different things). When 36 Styles revealed one of their latest designs would be bringing the kung fu classic, The Challenger, to the masses, it brought to my attention that – oddly enough, I had not seen this film.
THE FIVE VENOMS features the most venomous bunch of guys to step foot on a Shaw Brothers studio set- Lo Meng, Phillip Kwok, Chiang Sheng, Wai Pak, Sun Chien and Lu Feng. Chang Cheh assembled “The Poison Clan” and created kung fu gold with THE FIVE DEADLY VENOMS- each member trained in the fighting techniques of a deadly predator, possessing the most lethal fighting skills ever committed to film, and wearing the masks denoting their individual styles.
